If This Then That (IFTT)
|
|
Sunday, 15 September 2022 5pm PT / 8pm ET
Zoom. or Loop and Learn YouTube LiveStream
IFTTT is the best way to integrate apps, devices, and services. It was founded on the belief that everything works better together. Tech incompatibility has become challenging for anyone trying to build smart home or create automatic routines in their life. IFTTT automates and makes your life easier by linking online services and smart home devices together through user-created (THAT’S YOU!) Applets, which perform individual tasks. Matt will talk about using IFTTT with Alexa and Google Home as well as how webhooks work. You can use these on either Android or iOS devices (but he is only proficient on the Android environment). If you are knowledgeable about Apple/iOS Shortcut or IFTTT on Apple devices, please come to provide us with additional wisdom.
Matt is a dad to 2 children and a wife living with T1D ... and he’s on the fringe. He co-owns a digital marketing agency in Washington State (US), specializing in web development, SEO and conversion optimization.
If you don’t understand what this means, you should attend this event and learn more!

Please Help Us Build the “loop- friendly” Provider Resource!
|
|
Is your endocrinologist/healthcare team looper-friendly or even a looping expert?
Thank you to our many friends who have contributed to our list of Loop-friendly providers... we have over 100 on our list already!
We are excited to share this excellent resource and encourage you to add your provider's name to the list if you have not yet.
With almost 6,000 members, certainly more have providers who we can add to the list to benefit our community (as well as the providers). Please use this form to add yours today!
We will update the list regularly, and post it on the Loop and Learn website … plus it will live under Files in our FB group.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING

Important Notice for Nightscout Users
On August 25, Heroku announced that it is shutting down its free service level that many of us use for Nightscout hosting. Thank you to Heroku, which has allowed NS to thrive in their environment for YEARS, essentially supporting this community to the value of millions of dollars.
You can read their full posting by clicking the link below.
Users will have 90 days to decide how they want to proceed. We will update you as more options become available, but for now, your options are to:
- Pay for hosting at Heruko, (around $7 per month),
- Migrate to another hosting service such as Digital Ocean (around $5 per month),
- Subscribe to T1Pal, or
- Subscribe to ns10.be
Both of the subscription services listed in #3 and #4 above support Remote Overrides for Loop-master users, however, neither supports the Remote Carbs and Remote Bolus features of Loop-Dev. If these features are important to you, please contact the service provider to confirm that it meets your needs before switching.

It's Time to Rebuild
|
|
Apple is expected to release iPhone 14 on Sept 7. At around the same time, it is likely to release iOS 16, watchOS 9, and Xcode 14.
There have been some updates to Loopcode in the last few days to fix issues with building Loop Dev on iOS 16 and Loop Master using Xcode 14. The changes to Loop Dev include feature updates.
Our best advice is that if you are using Loop Master and your Loop app is going to expire before Oct 1, then do it before Sept 7 (just one day left). If you are using Loop Dev, then please rebuild using the latest Loopcode so that if you accidentally update to iOS 16, your Loop will continue to operate and rebuild smoothly.
Here are the steps:
- Update your MacOS and Xcode
- Get a new provisioning profile by running the LnL's Build Select Script utility script #3.
- Rebuild Loop using your existing iOS and LnL's Build Select Script or the Loop Dev script found in LoopDocs.
- Update your phone’s iOS.
- Turn off Install iOS Updates on your phone.
WARNING - for the last few years, when a new iPhone is released, there are lots of anxious loopers who rush out to buy the newest phone with the latest iOS and are disappointed when Loop is difficult or impossible to build. Please be patient. Loop's developers are typically quick to resolve any issues, but there are lots of people who sadly need to revert back to traditional pump therapy during the few day period that these issues take to resolve.

ProTip- Check your Delivery Limits
| |
Please check your Delivery Limits to ensure that they are reasonable.
Typically, Loop users set their maximum basal rate around 3-4 times their highest scheduled basal rate. When you are first beginning to use Loop, it is wise to start conservative (low) in setting your maximum basal rate.
For safety, your maximum bolus should not be any higher than your typical large meal bolus.
