Pro Tips: Keep Your Insulin Flowing and Your Loop Looping
| |
Uh Oh! You're on the go and your pod just got knocked off!
Insulin syringes kept in your glovebox, purse, or other handy place can be used to inject insulin pulled out of a faulty or fallen-off pod. If you find yourself in this situation, you can continue receiving predictions and dosing suggestions from Loop. Just set a manual temp basal of 0 U/hr and input your injected doses into Loop via the Non-Pump Insulin tab (a feature of Loop 3). This way, you'll be in great shape between pods and after you get the new one up and running.

|
This is what insulin syringes look like. They have a small volume- much smaller than the syringes used to fill pods, typically 0.5 - 1 cc. Many people who were diagnosed in recent years were not prescribed these but they should be considered an essential tool, as they come in very handy on occasion.
