Hear from Howard Look, CEO and Brandon Arbiter, VP about the newly FDA-approved Tidepool Loop.
“We knew this day would come, but we couldn’t have achieved it without the support of the entire diabetes community, including the FDA,” said Howard Look, CEO and co-founder of Tidepool. “I’d also like to personally acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of the DIY community and participants in the Loop Observational Study conducted by the JAEB Center for Health Research who made this milestone possible.”
[As always, we thank our founder, Joanne Milo, for giving us access to leaders within the T1D technology community.]

Loop Caregiver App
|
| Loop Caregiver is an experimental iOS-based app with a Loop-like interface that makes entering remote commands easier.
Loop Caregiver is under active development and will require periodic updates for you to enjoy new features and safety improvements.
One of the exciting improvements is the ability to build with GitHub, as well as Xcode. In order to do this, the app was modified to be unique to your Apple Developer ID. And a special new GitHub repository was created for LoopCaregiver. With this new repository, the Xcode build process was simplified significantly.
A consequence of these improvements is that existing users cannot update without a fresh download of code from the new repository (the script in LoopDocs does this for you). Furthermore, with the fresh download, a completely new app (unique to your Apple Developer ID) is created. There will be two apps on your phone. Enter your Looper’s information into the new app and delete the old one. The existing Loop Caregiver app on your phone will keep working until you are ready to do this update.
Minimum Requirements
- iOS 16 for LoopCaregiver's phone
- iOS 15.1 with Loop 3 for Looper's phone
- Nightscout 14.2.6

G7 Coming Soon to the US!
|
|
Based upon our recent poll, more than 85% of Loopers are using Dexcom as their CGM, so there's lots of excitement around the Dexcom G7 becoming available in the US starting 17 February 2023.
The G7 is a transmitter and sensor all-in-one, is smaller, and has a shorter warm-up than G6.
If you'd like to switch to the G7, be sure to update to Loop 3 if you haven't already.
If you find that your insurance won't cover G7 or it is cost prohibitive, you may be able to acquire G6 sensors from Loopers who switch to G7. In combination with an Anubis transmitter, this may be a more cost effective solution. Not familiar with the Anubis transmitter? Click the link below to learn more.

Eros Pods to be Discontinued in US
| |
Insulet will discontinue distribution of their Eros pods in the US as of 31 December 2023.
Now is the time to evaluate your insurance coverage and make plans to switch from Eros to DASH.
If you'd like to switch to DASH, be sure to update to Loop 3 if you haven't already. You'll be happy to be rid of your radio link device and will be impressed with how quick DASH is in comparison to Eros.
If you find that your insurance won't cover DASH or it is cost prohibitive, you may be able to acquire Eros from Loopers who have already switched to DASH or O5.
